ABLB (Alternate Binaural Loudness Balance)
The ABLB test compares how sound is perceived in both ears, particularly in cases where hearing loss is present in one ear. It helps identify abnormal loudness growth, a condition often associated with inner ear disorders.
During the test, sounds are presented alternately to each ear, and the patient indicates when they perceive them as equally loud. This allows audiologists to assess loudness balance and detect recruitment. ABLB is an important diagnostic tool for understanding complex hearing conditions. The results help in refining diagnosis and selecting appropriate treatment options.
