ASSR (Auditory Steady State Response)
ASSR is an advanced electrophysiological test used to estimate hearing thresholds across different frequencies with a high level of precision. It is particularly useful for assessing severe to profound hearing loss and is often used alongside ABR for a more detailed evaluation. This test is objective and does not require any active response from the patient, making it suitable for infants, young children, and individuals with special needs.
During the test, electrodes are placed on the scalp to measure the brain’s response to continuous sound stimuli. ASSR provides frequency-specific information, which helps audiologists determine the exact degree of hearing loss in each ear. This detailed analysis is essential for accurate hearing aid fitting and cochlear implant candidacy assessment. The test is safe, non-invasive, and plays a vital role in advanced hearing diagnostics and treatment planning
