VNG (Videonystagmography)
Videonystagmography (VNG) is an advanced diagnostic test used to evaluate the function of the inner ear balance system and its connection to the brain. It measures involuntary eye movements, known as nystagmus, which are closely linked to the vestibular system. By analyzing these eye movements, audiologists can identify abnormalities in balance function and determine the underlying cause of dizziness or vertigo.
During the test, the patient wears specialized goggles equipped with cameras that record eye movements while performing a series of visual and positional tasks. In some cases, warm or cool air may be introduced into the ear canal to stimulate the vestibular system. The procedure is safe, non-invasive, and highly effective in diagnosing conditions such as inner ear disorders, vestibular dysfunction, and certain neurological issues. VNG provides detailed insights that help clinicians develop accurate and targeted treatment plans.
